BackFamily Coaching - case study

New mother returning to work after maternity leave

Before taking maternity leave Sue had a successful career in a large pharmaceutical company; they were not supportive about the time off she needed to attend antenatal appointments. When the baby was 8 months old Sue wanted to return to work but found her company’s human resources department unhelpful regarding flexible working arrangements. Sue was feeling upset and deflated when she started life coaching, but after a few sessions of weighing up options for the future she felt able to approach her employers with confidence, to discuss the practicalities of combining family life and her career.

Sue also felt confident to discuss with her husband ways he could take a more pro-active role in caring for their daughter and managing the home.
