BackFamily Coaching - case study

Mid teens relationship issues

Rob is in his mid teens, his parents are divorced and both have new partners; he has some half-siblings.

Rob lived with his mother and was finding it very difficult to get on with his father who lived 30 miles away with his new partner and their children. Somehow he felt it was his fault that his parents had divorced and he felt very guilty but also resentful because his Dad seemed to be excluding him from his new family. Rob’s school work was suffering and he was having trouble concentrating on anything. His mother suggested he should try Life Coaching.

At first Rob found coaching sessions “a bit weird”, but soon relaxed and found he was able to work out what he felt he needed to do to have a good relationship with his father and his mother, without feeling caught between the two parents, or feeling disloyal to one of them.
